To ensure Dispatch aligns with individual care needs, staff may temporarily suspend a bedside tablet and reactivate it when clinically appropriate. Below are guidelines for suspending and activating rooms in Dispatch:

Suspending a Room

For some patients, using the Dispatch bedside tablet might not be a good fit. Reasons can include dementia/confusion, disability, advanced age, danger to self/others, or behavioral challenges.

Follow these steps to suspend a patient’s bedside tablet:

  1. Identify the patient’s room that needs to be suspended within the Dispatch system (e.g. Room 102).
  2. Tap on the gear icon in the bottom right hand corner of the room card.
  3. Select “Temporarily Suspend Room.”
  4. Select the duration of time you would like to suspend the room for and note the reason why the Dispatch bedside tablet was not a good fit for the patient.

Activating a Room

If having access to the bedside tablet becomes beneficial to the patient at a later time, staff can reactivate the room by following these steps:

  1. Locate the room that was suspended and is now eligible for Dispatch use.
  2. Tap on the gear icon. Select “Activate Room”
