We’re introducing a new, efficient way for patients to get to know their Dispatch tablet as they are admitted to the unit.

What’s changing?

Dispatch tablets will now show a quick video to help orient patients to the room.

Key points covered in the video:

• The video will show on the tablet when a new patient is admitted to the room. This is managed automatically based on data presented in EPIC.
• The 30-second video introduces patients to Dispatch and other unit-specific information.
• The video disappears when the patient has finished watching it.
• A patient can watch the video again by pressing Settings (⚙️, top-right of Request Menu Screen) → “Play Orientation Video”

Huddle Card

Starting January 22nd, Dispatch tablets will automatically play a quick orientation video for new admissions. The 30-second video helps patients understand how to use Dispatch and learn about our unit.

Key actions:

• Make sure tablet is positioned where patient can see it
• For replay: Settings ⚙️ → "Play Orientation Video"

The video includes subtitles in the patient's preferred language and can be skipped if needed.

Starting Wednesday, January 22nd, the Dispatch team makes it even easier for patients to get started with the Dispatch tablets through an automatic orientation video feature.

What's happening:

• A brief 30-second video will automatically load when a new patient is admitted
• The video introduces Dispatch features and unit-specific information
• Subtitles are available in all supported patient languages
• Patients can skip the video if they prefer

What you need to know:

• Videos will load automatically for patients based on EPIC admission data
• Ensure tablets are positioned where patients can easily view them
• Patients or staff can replay the video anytime through Settings (⚙️) → "Play Orientation Video"

This addition will help patients feel more comfortable using Dispatch while reducing the time you may be spending explaining basic features. The video features our own Kristi Schormann from Northwest Hospital and has been designed to be clear and engaging.
