Unavailable to respond to Dispatch requests for a little while while going on break, heading into a longer procedure, or having a difficult conversation with a patient? This update to Dispatch’s “I’m Unavailable” feature allows you to mark yourself unavailable for a pre-set period of time while all new, incoming requests are auto-routed the Hub tablet.

What’s changing?
Instead of staff having to mark themselves unavailable for each individual request that comes in while they are occupied with another task, staff now have two options to mark themselves unavailable for a pre-set period of time (default 30-minutes, configurable by unit):
Option 1 - Proactively mark yourself unavailable for a pre-set period of time.
- Step 1: Navigate to the staff app settings in the top right corner.

- Step 2: Select the “I’m Unavailable” option.

- Step 3: See purple band at the bottom of the screen for the amount of time you will be marked unavailable. All incoming Dispatch notifications will be paused for the next 30 minutes (or amount of time configured by unit) and automatically rerouted to the Hub tablet for the PSS/Unit Secretary to delegate. If you are ready to receive requests again before the pre-set time period is up, you can mark yourself available again by selecting the “I’m Available” option on the right side of the purple band.

Option 2 - Respond “I’m Unavailable” to any incoming Dispatch request to trigger unavailable status for pre-set period of time
- Step 1: After receiving an incoming request, click open the room tile.

- Step 2: From the list of pre-set options, select “I’m Unavailable.”

- Step 3: Your status will now be set to unavailable for any new, incoming requests during the pre-set time. You can mark yourself available again before the end of the pre-set period by selecting the “I’m Available” option on the right side of the purple band.
