This document is to help you guide your patient through the menu ordering process through the Dispatch app. If meal ordering is an option on your unit, then it will appear in the main set of call requests options as “Order Food”. If “Order Food” does not appear in the main list of call requests for the patient tablet, then this feature is not available on your unit. You can do this through the patient tablet or through the Dispatch app on your phone.

If you are using the patient’s tablet, start by clicking the “Order Food” button on the patient’s tablet.

If you are using the Dispatch app on your phone or through PSS hub, start by clicking on the room number and then click “Create Request.”

Then click “Order Food.: All the steps after this will be the same between the patient tablet and your phone.

The next screen will ask you to login with the patients ID. Click the “Enter your Hospital ID” to proceed to the next step.

You will need to look at your patients wristband to obtain the information to proceed. Enter the 7 digits that follow the “U” from the wristband and the patients date of birth in MM - DD - YYYY format.

After you enter this information, you will see the following screen before the menu options.

If you entered the correct Patient ID and Date of Birth, then you will be taken to the menu screen. If you receive an error, you will have to input the Hospital ID and Date of Birth again—make sure there are not any typos as you are entering it. The “Fetching the Menu” screen can take up to a minute, please be patient.

Next you will be asked to select the meal that your patient wants to order. Select which meal you are helping your patient order

Once you select the meal, you will be taken to the menu for that meal. Select the food that your patient would like to order and click add to order.

If you selected the wrong item, you can click remove the item.
