Introduction to Dispatch

What is Dispatch?

Dispatch is a communication application that allows you to receive and manage patient requests directly from patient’s bedside tablets. It simplifies your workflow by notifying you of requests in real time on your staff device so that you can respond promptly and efficiently.

While Dispatch doesn’t replace the nurse call button/light, as it has essential safety features, it can fulfill most patient needs.

How Does it Work?

<aside> <img src="/icons/share_purple.svg" alt="/icons/share_purple.svg" width="40px" /> The patient uses Dispatch on a bedside tablet to select preset needs like "Restroom" or "Too Cold," sending an alert to the appropriate team members' phones.

Accessing Dispatch

<aside> <img src="/icons/list_purple.svg" alt="/icons/list_purple.svg" width="40px" /> Getting started with Dispatch is easy. The first step is to open the app on your iPhone.

1. Look for the Dispatch app icon on your home screen (see reference to the right)
2. Tap the Dispatch icon once to open the app

If you can't find the Dispatch app, check other screens by swiping left or right.

If you still can't locate it, contact your IT support team.

Signing into Dispatch

After opening the Dispatch app, you'll need to sign in to access your patient assignments. Here's how to do it:

Step 1 - Select your Role

• RN
• PCT/CNA

This is important as Dispatch gathers room assignments and assigns request types based on role.

Step 2 - Find and Select your Name

<aside> <img src="/icons/list_purple.svg" alt="/icons/list_purple.svg" width="40px" /> Based on the role you selected, you’ll see a list of care staff that have assignments on your unit:

• Scroll through the list of staff on your unit
• Select your name from the list
• Select the “Sign In” button
