This document describes the different types of push notifications sent to staff phones.
Different units have different needs, so the system is customizable on a per unit basis.
Notifications are sent to staff devices in most cases for the following reasons:
We send these notifications as Critical Alerts through the iPhone devices to make sure the notification is not muted or ignored by other user settings on the device.
| Scenario | Notification Result | Other Note |
|---|---|---|
| When a patient creates a request or a request is created on behalf of a patient by staff… | Staff member in the appropriate role assigned to that room will receive a notification. | This notification will repeat every 2 minutes |
| If no one has acknowledged the request after 5 minutes (i.e. selected “On My Way”)… | The Hub Tablet (iPad at the RN station) will begin to beep. | This signals to the PSS/Unit Secretary to follow up with the staff member assigned the request or work to find them coverage. |
| If the request has an escalation policy set and the criteria is met… |
(e.g. A Restroom request is unanswered by the PCT. This request type has an escalation policy to fallback to the RN after 2 minutes) | Staff member in the escalation role assigned to that room will receive a notification. | Not all request types have escalation policies. These can be customized for your unit and role configuration. | | If the request is unanswered in 10 minutes (even after any escalations)… | The Charge RN will be notified about the request. | |
